Assistant Project Manager
Job Description
This document provides an overview of candidate type and roles and responsibilities for an Assistant Project Manager that is required to support the Electrical department of Group Metropolitan. The candidate would be based primarily between our client site and our Canary Wharf office.Type of contract: Permanent Role
Department: Term Contracts
Hours: 07:00 – 16:00 (1 hour for lunch) Must be flexible in working overtime and weekends when required
Location: Canary Wharf
Generally, the above hours will be flexible in line with the needs of the business. We operate a fair working policy but if any extended overtime is worked by agreement of you line manager, then overtime payment will be applicable
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge and expertise with Electrical Infrastructure.
- Good knowledge of Electrical Condition Reports.
- Proven track record of working for customer-facing contractors.
- Comprehensive awareness of health & safety, CDM and environmental legislation and good practice.
- Good knowledge of IT systems (Planning software, SharePoint, MS Office)
- Knowledge of IT systems Procore and 1Breadcrumb is desired
- Key communication skills necessary to maintain and develop relationships.
- Key skills in project planning, time management, and effective communication to manage site-based project personnel.
- Experienced in running effective and productive meetings with a subcontractor.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Experience working at the Construction Management/Project Engineer level.
- In depth knowledge of occupied commercial buildings, data centres and critical facilities.
- Electrical relevant qualifications.
- 2391 inspection and testing.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Managers Card.
Responsibilities
- Promote Group Metropolitan’s Rules and establish safe working cultures and practices.
- Comply with Group Metropolitan’s procedures and legal obligations.
- Promote and comply with environmental compliance.
- Responsible for delivery and quality in line with customer and company expectations.
- Coordinate the work of the site team, including subcontractors/trades and the external supply chain.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance methods/standards to ensure the delivery of projects.
- Maintain HSQE procedures from pre-start to project completion to ensure compliance with all company HSQE standards, policies, processes, ISO accreditations and legislative requirements.
- Preparation of weekly site condition & safety reports and acting swiftly on any areas identified requiring attention.
- Ensure all programmes, plans, method statements and risk assessments are robust, up to date, understood and implemented.
- Raising permits/access for works as required.
- Delivering toolbox talks
- Ordering materials for projects.
- Before issuing purchase orders to supply chains and ensure better buying process are adhered to.
- Produce Health and Safety packs as required.
- Be aware of and ensure contract terms are understood and adhered to.
- Ensure that all site records are kept up to date in line with company and legislative requirements.
- Develop and maintain close relationships with all appropriate internal and external stakeholders, including customers, sub-contractors, and supply chain.
- Identify and act on opportunities to reduce cost and add value to the project.
- Identify and escalate any potential issues.
- Ensure the high site standards set out at the start of the project are maintained throughout the lifecycle.
- Ensure work is delivered defect/snag free.
- Ensure all persons working on site have the correct competence and training for the role they are carrying out.
- Participate, contribute and, where required, chair and minute meetings with Sub-Contractors.
- Completion of testing documentation and other relevant record information and upload to company Dutiful system
- Carry out site surveys to establish SoW for costing purposes.
- Ensure Accurate recording of the correct working hours associated to each project worked on
- Chair and attend site/project update meetings.
- Flexibility to cover weekend working as required.
