BMS Applications Engineer
Job Description
The BMS Application Engineer role is a Technical role focused on designing, configuring and supportingsystems that control and monitor building operations like HVAC, lighting and energy usage.
Type of contract: Permanent
Department: BMS
Hours: Mon – Fri, 07:00am - 04:00pm, 45 hours per week.
Location: London, Canary Wharf – travel may be required and WFH may be possible when current workload
suits.
Salary: Dependent on experience
Requirements
- 3 Year’s project engineer experience in the construction industry, with experience in BMS and control systems.
- Software experience with Distech, Niagara and Trend
- Good verbal and written skills, ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
- Proficient in Microsoft programmes including Excel, Word & Project
- Experience working on large projects (£1-£3M in value)
- Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines
- Ability to work on Problem Solving , diagnosing faults in live building
- Experience of managing H&S in a construction environment
- Valid Safe pass site card
- Experience working within Datacentres / critical infrastructure environments
- Knowledge of Metasys, Tridium, Trend or any OEM BMS platform
- First Aid & SMSTS / SSSTS
- Knowledge of necessary Contractual procedures and requirements (e.g. the Construction Act)
- Edit and enhance graphics, illustrations, and layouts to improve clarity and visual appeal
Responsibilities
- Lead by example, promote the highest of standards with regards to HSEQ best practice, ensuring compliance with company standards, policies, ISO accreditations and legislative requirements in all instances.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers and vendors
- Integrate systems using protocols like BACnet, Modbus, or KNXDesign and configure BMS software for buildings (offices, Labs, data centres)
- Graphic and Supervisor set-ups, adjustments and point commissioning
- Drive standardisation throughout the organisation, ensuring project documentation is consistent
- Engage with Supply Chain & Subcontract organisations
- Optimize energy efficiency and ensure systems meet regulations.
- Undertake risk reviews
- Programme control strategies for HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning)
- Maintain relevant certifications and licenses
