At Group Metropolitan, our Commissioning Services ensure that all building systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with industry standards.
Our commissioning specialists work collaboratively with Client and Contractor teams to bring building systems into operation in a coordinated and controlled manner. Our goal is to stress-test system resilience at every stage, identifying and resolving operational risks before Practical Completion. Commissioning and operability are embedded throughout the project lifecycle, from design through delivery.
Led by our Technical Consultancy team, we conduct in-depth reviews of M&E designs, not only validating intent but simulating operational scenarios to challenge system resilience. Installation teams are also involved to identify potential issues pre-construction, saving time and cost. Findings are captured in the Issue Resolution Log (IRL), creating a live record for action and tracking.
Review and approval are ongoing and rigorous. We create packaged system/component reports to continuously assess MEPH progress and readiness. This feeds into commissioning phase pre-requisites, ensuring thorough validation. All activity is tracked via our cloud-based platform CX Alloy, giving full visibility to all parties and preventing last-minute oversights.
Commissioning engagement begins at Level 2 (Yellow Tag Stage), with early alignment across all stakeholders through a tailored Commissioning Implementation Plan (CIP). Regular meetings ensure clarity on roles, responsibilities, and programme integration. The IRL is actively maintained throughout to monitor issues and preempt delays.
We oversee QA/QC through Levels 2 and 3, verifying systems are commissioned per design and compliant with EDC policy and industry standards. Support is provided to Contractors on expectations and QA/QC documentation. Regular site inspections and quality audits ensure installations align with programme, quality benchmarks, and the evolving IRL.
Following approval of commissioning scripts, GML witnesses First of Kind (FOK) testing for all critical systems. We ensure results are logged and approved via the IRL, maintaining accountability and transparency throughout the process.
Testing scripts for Level 4 (Functionality) and Level 5 (Integrated Systems) are developed from initial reviews and aligned with EDC commissioning policy. We chair weekly commissioning meetings and issue daily reports to keep all stakeholders informed through these critical phases.
Our dual-experienced Cx team (delivery and CxA) ensures commissioning activities are fully integrated into the project programme. We manage every issue in relation to key milestones and Licence to Proceed (LTP), preventing programme drift and supporting the contractor in avoiding EoT risks. Weekly reviews by our planner interrogate progress and raise early warnings.
We attend and support all client training sessions to ensure safe, reliable handover. Throughout delivery, we maintain an internal log of key design decisions, bespoke installations, and limitations. This is cross-checked with the training agenda to ensure system knowledge is accurately transferred.
