Data Suite Fit Out

GroupMetropolitan were approached by a longstanding data centre client on Canary Wharf , who had a potential new client for their colo facility, requiring 550kVA (N+N). The tenant was keen to take the space but had a fixed occupation date in 20 weeks. Due to our detailed knowledge of the building infrastructure, through the delivery of ongoing lifecycle replacement and resiliency works, the client negotiated with us to deliver the fast-paced project.

Initially, Team Design carried out a detailed feasibility study based on the existing building loads and infrastructure to confirm where the new dedicated supplies could derive from. Due to limitations on the existing infrastructure, new I/O Switch panels and UPS arrays were required, fed back from central Switchpanels, which were quickly designed so that orders could be placed immediately. Team Design engaged with Team Critical, who have been carrying out projects as Main Contractor within the building for the past 10 years to develop a phased strategy for the transfer of supplies.

Due to the non-negotiable client 'go live' date, the phasing of the project was critical to ensuring we could manage and deliver the project safely, with multiple in-house trades on site and several specialist contractors. We were committed to delivering the project, but we do not comprimise on the safety of operatives on our site, or the quality of delivery.

The project scope required the strip out of obsolete and inefficient CRACs and PDUs from the space to be replaced with new. Whilst awaiting delivery of the new equipment, Team Critical worked with Team Mechanical to ensure all new electrical and mechanical services were installed throughout the space, allowing equipment to be delivered and positioned immediately upon arrival.

Following a detailed testing, commissioning and IST schedule, composed and managed by Team Design, the space was handed over to the tenant on time for them to start installing their new IT equipment for their 'go live' date.

The client was ecstatic with our ability to deliver such a difficult project safely in such a short space of time.
