About the role:

The Critical Power Systems Technical / Project Manager will be responsible for managing the planning, coordination, and execution of critical power systems (CPS) works, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time and to the highest technical standards. This role involves liaising with clients, subcontractors and internal teams, as well as ensuring all safety documentation and technical support are in place for CPS operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of switchgear, maintenance practices and health & safety standards, as well as the ability to develop departmental documentation and lead training initiatives.

Generally, the above hours will be flexible in line with the needs of the business. We operate a fair working policy but if any extended overtime is worked by agreement of you line manager, then overtime payment will be applicable

Requirements

Skills

  • Proven experience in Critical Power Systems management or a similar technical/project management role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of switchgear and electrical systems, including experience in maintenance and shutdowns.
  • In-depth understanding of health & safety regulations, RAMS, and safe working practices.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to develop technical documentation, including tenders, quotations, and reports.
  • Previous experience with training planning and implementation is an advantage.
  • Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering, project management, or a related field are preferred

Responsibilities

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Liaise with site contacts once an order is received to ensure a smooth transition into project execution.
  • Plan and coordinate the works, including managing the switching schedule and ensuring that all safety systems and procedures are followed.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Manage the review of reports and provide overall responsibility for ensuring that works are delivered smoothly, efficiently, and in line with client expectations.
  • Take overall ownership of Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) and safety documentation for Critical Power Systems works.
  • Review and ensure the competency of subcontractors, verifying that their RAMS meet required safety standards.
  • Ensure all work is carried out with the highest levels of safety compliance, aligning with industry best practices and regulations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients seeking technical support related to CPS works.
  • Provide in-depth technical knowledge of switchgear systems, including an understanding of switchgear maintenance and maintenance shutdown procedures.
  • Be present at planned maintenance works and contribute technical expertise to ensure operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Support the development of departmental documentation, including quotations, tenders, site visit reports, and progress updates.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of training programs to enhance team capabilities and ensure technical knowledge is up to date.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and documentation, ensuring that all work is aligned with company objectives and industry standards.
  • Undertake any other tasks as required to support the delivery of projects and department goals.
